What's the difference between a promo code and a referral code?
On Wealthsimple, nothing. They both refer to the same type of code — a personal referral link that new clients enter to unlock a sign-up bonus. Wealthsimple doesn't issue separate public "discount codes."

Wealthsimple Trade, Crypto, Managed Investing, and Chequing. The $100 deposit must come from an external bank or financial institution — internal Wealthsimple transfers don't count.
I'm not a Canadian resident. Can I use the code?
Wealthsimple operates in Canada only. You must be a Canadian resident 18 or older to open an account and claim the referral bonus.
Claiming Your Bonus
How do I enter the promo code?
Two options: use the direct link wealthsimple.com/invite/UHGWMQ (code pre-applied), or manually enter UHGWMQ in the app: tap the gift icon → Invite Friends → Enter referral code.
I forgot to enter the code before I deposited — is it too late?
Only if your first deposit was more than 7 days ago. If it was within the last 7 days, open the Wealthsimple app, tap the gift icon, and enter UHGWMQ now. After 7 days, the code cannot be added retroactively.
How long do I have to deposit after entering the code?
30 days from when the referral code is entered. If you miss this window, the referral relationship expires.
When do I receive the $25?
Within 24 hours of your first eligible deposit of $100 or more settling in your account. You'll get a notification from Wealthsimple when the bonus is applied.
Where does the $25 go?
Into your Wealthsimple chequing account. Both you and the referrer must have an open chequing account to receive it. Opening one is free and takes about two minutes in the app.
Problems & Edge Cases
I entered the wrong referral code. Can I change it?
Yes, if you haven't funded your account yet and more than 30 days have passed since entering the wrong code. If a $25 bonus has already been paid as a result of the existing code, the relationship cannot be changed. Contact Wealthsimple support at wealthsimple.com/contact.
The code isn't working — what should I do?
First, confirm you're a new client who has never funded a Wealthsimple account before. Then confirm you're entering the code in the right place (gift icon → Invite Friends → Enter referral code). If the issue persists, contact Wealthsimple support directly.
My bonus hasn't arrived after 24 hours — what now?
Check that your deposit has fully settled (some transfers take 2–3 business days to process). Also confirm both you and the referrer have an open Wealthsimple chequing account. If both conditions are met and it's been more than 48 hours, contact Wealthsimple support.
